It's PTO Time!!

Onaga's newly organized PTO is up and running.  Please join them at their regularly scheduled monthly meetings.  A lot has been scheduled for the remainder of the year and parent volunteers and helpers are in great demand.  The meetings are held in the MPR at 6:00PM.  Dates for the remainder of the school-year are:

  • March 1 
  • April 5
  • May 3

Student Information System

Morongo Unified School District will continue using the Student Information System again this year.  A Portal for student access allows for students to view their grades, take online assessments, and view attendance.  The Student Portal can be found at https://musd.illuminatehc.com/auth#tabs-student.  We are currently asking the parents to work with their children through the Student Portal until the Parent Portal becomes operational.

Help Send ONES 6th Graders to Science Camp

Each year, sixth grade students at Onaga Elementary School  raise money to attend a week long "science camp" at Camp Highland Outdoor Science School.  The cost to send this year's 6th grade class is $27,000.00.

Many of our students live at or below the poverty level, which makes paying their full tuition for attendance to science camp a financial hardship.  We have held several fundraising opportunities, and have several planned in the upcoming months, but still predict we will be short of the funds we need.

For many students in our rural area, this is not only a wonderful educational opportunity, but also their first opportunity to visit an area outside of the Morongo Basin.  Camp Highland Outdoor Science Center provides students with science exploration, gives them an opportunity to develop leadership and team building skills, as well as activities such as hiking, canoeing, archery, environmental science, pond science, astronomy and multicultural studies. Students return from the camp with increased knowledge, skills and self-confidence.
